"Tainted Love" is the shittiest song I've ever heard.
No redeeming quality whatsoever.

Not that you care, but I had to tell someone.

3. Whoever wrote it has no ear for music.
The beat, the melody, all of it is pure shit.

4. I think they tried to "fix" it with that part.
I know what you're saying, too. But it didn't work.

The melody is still simplistic and not even catchy.

6. Are youtalking Soft Cell's 1981 Cover or the 1965 Gloria Jones original?
The Gloria Jones version is much better.

14. I just checked out the Gloria Jones one...
Edited on Sat Mar-22-08 12:51 AM by BullGooseLoony
Slightly better- at least it has a punchier beat, while it is still weak, and her lead vocals are (more) interesting, as are the background vocals.

But I still think it is fatally flawed. That melody- it has no progression, nothing worthwhile going on. And the beat ultimately still just sucks.

16. By far.

I can hear some redeeming musical value in Karma Chameleon (although it definitely is NOT one of my favorite songs). Some harmonies, a nice bridge, the drums are up a bit.

They should have worked on that one more before it was released, though.

22. My nominee for that award
is "Video Killed the Radio Star" by The Buggles. I actually think "Tainted Love" is kinda catchy, but I have yet to find an redeeming quality in "Video Killed the Radio Star."

(OK, actually I know that there are far worse songs than that one. It's just that I heard it an hour or so ago while scanning radio stations and was reflecting on how much it grates on me, and my frustration that no one else seems to share my annoyance concerning it. haha)

28. That's because you weren't a young gay guy in the 80's.
But "I've Never Been To Me" is universally bad, no matter what you ever were or will be.
