Oh, good, a thoroughly obnoxious cowboy-hat-wearing jackass has come into the coffee shop.
Smacking his lips as he talks to punctuate the perfection of his wisdom, announcing his actions before he makes them ("Guess I better call so and so..."), sitting back in his chair like he's lord of the room, and, of course, never taking his hat off (though thankfully he did take off the asshole sunglasses), and all manner of idiotic asinine "Oooh, look, I'm a cowboy hat wearing jackass and I've adopted every cliche and asinine cowboy-hat-wearing affectation I've ever seen in a movie or at a NASCAR race".

x(

It's for people like this that I would like, if it were only legal, always to carry around with me a nice solid piece of oak 2x4.

1. I hate the drugstore cowboy type.
I don't care what kind of hat you wear, if you don't ride a horse and rope cattle for a living, you ain't no cowboy.

4. Me, too. I prefer a straight-up redneck bigot asshole - at least he's honestly what he is.
He's still a racist jackass asshole, but at least he's not a goddamned fake.

The drugstore cowboy ("But ah owns me a great big pickup truck!") is one of the worst fake affectations in the world, in my opinion.

This guy has it all - the boots, the blue jeans, the belt, the "deerskin" collared jacket/shirt, the hat, the mustache. It's all there.

big ol' pickup truck. So I guess you're not talking about me, then.

PS: I absolutely always take my hat off indoors. Got me some manners.

2. What is he drinking?
If it's a double-skim mocha cappucino latte with extra whipped cream or some such concoction, somehow that needs to wind up in his hat.

12. Yeah, I guess it couldn't have been him since he didn't talk about the
"nappy-headed hos" (should that be "ho's?" I'm never sure how to write it) walking by on the street.

11. The fake cowboy types are really irritating, and when you add the
loud cell phone calls, the urge to kill becomes almost overwhelming.

Seriously, though, when I see a city person dressed as a cowboy, as I think, "There goes a macho jerk."

(Real cowboys who work on actual ranches are exempt from that judgment.)

13. I'm pretty sure the 2x4 is legal.
Even without a permit, as long as it's not concealed.

18. So, you're feeling mimetically toward a loud guy in a cowboy hat.
And threatening to make him into a scapegoat. Interesting.

Do go on. :)

19. One comment.
You criticized this: "Announcing his actions before he makes them ("Guess I better call so and so...")."

I do this. Doesn't mean I'm a jackass. It's from growing up in an environment where talking to myself was the only intelligent conversation I got on a regular basis. Announcing my actions kind of expanded out of that.
