I don't know why, but nothing I ever heard from her ever appealed to me. I'm sure plenty of people like her.

Thats one of those tunes i remember from Highschool. We would sit in the back of the school bus on our way home and smoke a joint. Our driver was cool and played some music. He didn't care that we smoked weed back there until the jocks chimed in for whatever reason. Hell, his coffee cup said "Aim High" As far as i know, he never was in the Air Force:)
Anyway, that tune and "We Built This City"... get to me still. Not sure why, but it does.

If I had to pick the one quintessential great 80's song, though, I'd have to go with "One Night in Bangkok."

Or "Out Of Step" by Minor Threat...
Or "I Against I" by Bad Brains...
I can't post any links though because I'm at work.

47. "Orinoco Flow" by Enya |
|
The best song of the 1980s, in my opinion. The first time I heard it I was paralyzed by the sounds: the harp, the soaring voides (all of which are Enya), the catchy chorus... nothing like that had ever been on the radio in the U.S. before that point.
