Should I join facebook?
I really don't want to.
I'm 66 and it seems like a kid's thing to me.
Like a high school yearbook.
I have nothing I want the world to see and I don't want a friends' list.
My friends' list is in my head.
Why would I want to show it to anyone?
Who would care?

But a good friend, my age, has sent me a request to set up an account.
"I set up a Facebook profile with my pictures, videos and events and I want to add you as a friend so you can see it. First, you need to join Facebook! Once you join, you can also create your own profile.

Thanks,
David"

He's retired and cruising the canals of France on his own canal boat.
(Yeah, I know. Lucky guy. But Dave deserves it.)
He has a bleeding WEBSITE!
Here, take a look:
http://www.bargingfrance.blogspot.com/

I can keep up with him just fine there.
But he's a good friend.
I'd do just about anything he asked me too.
He's been there for me when I really needed help.
So...am I kvetching about something minuscule?
As always, I will be guided by your responses.

2. It's not such a waste of time if
you have family and friends far away.
Depends on how much time you spend there. Some of it is silly but I like having my contact there.

5. Then you're all set I guess.
No need for time wasters like facebook.

6. I'm on Facebook...it's kinda fun.
It's a good way to keep in touch with my teenage great-nephews. They check it more often than anything else. It's also nice to know what they're up to; they post a lot of photos. My son is also on and agrees with me that it's mostly younger people but, on the whole, it's a pretty diverse, world-wide group. He's met a lot of people while working in NOLA and Facebook is one way they keep in touch.

You don't have to list a bunch of friends. Your list can just be that one guy. I'd try it for a while.

:)

7. I thought it was just for kids
but I'm 'practically 40' and I've kinda liked it. My best friend's aunt is my friend on there and she's almost 60, and one of my dad's old friends who's about the same age is my friend too.
It's kinda pointless of course! but it's fun to start the page.
It let me make a profile for my cat Tonka (they have Catbook and Dogbook) and now he has seven friends :D 1 dog, 2 cats and 4 people.
