I absolutely loathe teenage boys.... and this is just another reason why
first of all let me apologize to any teenage boy who may actually be a civilized human being. unfortunately a majority of your peers are not. x(

so last night I didn't get home from spring break at the beach until later in the evening, so after unpacking i had to make a late night run to walmart(yes the *evil walmart*.. chastise me for that later please) for easter basket supplies for my little sisters. i get what i need, leave the store, and pull out. i am then passed but a pickup truck full of teenage boys and two of them proceed to stick their asses out the window and "moon" me. i pulled away and attempted to not vomit while they "mooned" several other vehicles.

now i am stuck with this question. what, pray tell, is so funny and hilarious about showing people your ass?

and to think people ask me why i don't do the teenage dating thing. :eyes:
rednecks and idiots like that are why i really really can't wait to go to college and get away from here.

1. I am 27 years old Ava and the one thing that I have learned is ...
boys don't stop behaving like teenagers.Especially when they are around their assholes friends.

40 being the new 30, and 30 being the new 21...you see where this is going. Sadly, some never grow up at all!

2. I am sorry, Ava.
I really am sorry that you became upset. You did the smart thing, as it seems you tend to do.

I might be the worst influence because that stuff makes me laugh. It is this time of year that everyone is coming out of their shell, and those guys did it with gusto.

I am an old married woman and damn if those young males aren’t looking at me like they want to cozy up. Young males have so much energy and much of it is directed below the waist.

24. Okay, now that tickles me no end.
Mooning Amtrak!?!?

People astound and amuse me everyday, you included.

I saw a few rather feminine looking front sides in those photos, so maybe girls do moon.

Come to think of it, I have seen a girl moon and it was fun too.

Ava knew we would be amused, she came to share, I like that.

than from masculine. I certainly remember my first view of an arse-airing, some 35 years ago. That fundament was decidedly female.

33. Why?
Mooning is a time-honored way of conveying disdain, displeasure, etc.

One of the first known examples happened in 1346, when several hundred Norman soldiers mooned their British foes during the Battle of Crecy.

Of course, that proved to be tactically unsound. :)

If they had real confidence, they wouldn't need to be jerks.

They go out of their way to seek attention. If they can't get positive attention, they'll do dumb stuff like mooning strangers just to get the attention they crave. They think, "Better bad attention than no attention at all."

60. You go to a college founded by and named for
a British king and queen. Ergo, students there do not "moon;" rather, it's referred to as "lunarising" and is performed with two empty halves of cocoanut.

days on end and they had to take her to the hospital with the seat stuck to her butt.

I bet that toilet bowel was none too happy.

101. I tried to explain the seriousness of mooning the toilet bowel while
not 100% at the top of your game. Apparently no one gives a shit if you end up mooning your own damn bathroom walls.

70. Mooning is pretty unpleasant.
But it's a fairly typical shenanigan (wait until college - even liberals get drunk and stupid sometimes).

79. I am now 41 but still remember those days
and I agree with you 100%.

Now here's an observation from an older guy if you don't mind. Boys seem to act like that because not many girls respond to boys who act mature and nice. The old adage "nice guys always finish last" didn't become an old adage for no reason.

There are plenty of us guys and boys who don't and have never acted stupid like that, but, regardless of how attractive we might look we've always nevertheless watched girls only give their attention to the boys you described.

The quiet type (quiet not in a creepy way) is what I've preferred in the women I take out. When I was your age, that was almost none existent.

Good luck to you Ava.

Peace.

82. Fortunately, Ava, my son survived his teenage years
And has turned into a kind, gentle, respectful 20-year-old. So there is hope.

Yes, teenage boys suck. On the other hand, I vaguely remember mooning a cop car many decades ago ... it was glorious!! I also remember water-ballooning a cop car (hmmm, is there a pattern there?).

Best regards,

Bake

84. As I recall it
College was just slightly more educated idiots. I saw more mooning there than in HS, by a long shot. The dorms were a place of decorated Peni, many wearing oversized sunglasses, or so my memory would lead me to believe.

87. I'm sorry you had a bad experience Ava
Actually those boys sound pretty juvenile and childish. I've always had a very low opinion of mooning

But, as someone who stopped being a teenaged boy almost a decade ago, I'd caution you against stereotyping teenaged boys. Sure there are a lot of juvenile and immature ones but I also think of many of the ones I know

I think of my cousin's teenaged son. Polite, respectful, tactful and diplomatic to a fault, very educated and knowledgeable on world events and someone who is at equally at ease with conversing adults and supervising younger children

I think of all the teenaged boys in the Church youth group that I help supervise here in Australia. Polite, well-educated, very open-minded and liberal in their beliefs and values and very knowledgeable about the world -in fact one of them probably knows more about America than most Americans do despite being Australians

I think of all the teenaged boys who marched in protest against the Iraq War through the streets of Sydney four years ago, despite facing disciplinary action from their schools for doing so. I think of the teenaged boys I saw in the newspaper last year seeking to develop a greater understanding and tolerance of the Islamic faith and culture through engaging in interfaith dialogue with their fellow Muslim students

I think of the teenaged boys I know who are political activists like yourself. Those I know who traveled for hours on end to attend political conferences and meetings. Those I know who spent last year balancing their school work with campaigning for the election of a progressive country in our country and who spent hours on the campaign trail playing a key role in making the difference in key seats where the results were agonizingly close. Those I know who make fiery and passionate speeches about progressive causes at party conferences that I've attended. And yes, I was a political activist who helped out on election campaigns and wrote a report for my local MP as a teenager

Unfortunately you've probably only predominantly had exposure to one of the types of teenaged males that exist in our society. But don't let that make you cynical about teenaged boys in general. There are good and bad in every age group and I wish you luck in finding the good in that particular age group

102. THAT is EXCELLENT!!! Thank you, Ava!
Did you leave a comment, I hope?

If you like, please go check www.michaelgossard.com. That's more of him in detail, and some fun photos - including some of his musical/concert/event adventures. He wrote that stuff you hear on the Myspace. AND he loves Green Day! I have photos of him where he looks very much like Billie Joe Armstrong. He's one of Mike's heroes. In fact, at the battle-of-the-bands they entered last September, the magazine reviewer referred to him as "a Billie Joe Armstrong for a new generation of rockers."

I'm so glad you like it! He writes and plays stuff for other people's projects, too.

Thanks for checking him out, Ava! It means a lot coming from you!

once you get to college, you'll see them acting that way 24/7. It doesn't get any better. You just might meet one who acts a little more mature, but always remember, I said "acts" more mature, not is more mature... :eyes:

94. I have a teenage boy and so my house is full of 'em, all the time.
Watching their antics from a parental perspective is much easier than dealing with them as a young woman. All you need to know is that teenage boys are really eight-year-olds with a bit o' facial hair and an attitude. They expose their asses because they're hoping you have a diaper on hand. :P

97. I used to be a teenage boy...
...and all I can really tell you is that the dumber it is, the funnier it is.

As to when we grow up? For the men in my family, it seems to be right about the time our girls become teenagers. What we thought was effin hilarious when we were kids all of a sudden ain't that funny anymore.

Luckily the slug that hit his arm missed the major cables.

I mean, being stupid is being stupid, but does anyone need to pay for it with their life?
