Is it Easter Sunday or something? |
|
Not only do I never remember when it is, but unlike Christmas, I'm kinda unclear what goes on during this "Easter" holiday for Goyish America. What exactly does your typical Christian family do?
Aren't you guys required by church law to throw eggs at bunnies or some such?

1. For Western Christians, today is Easter. For Orthodox, it will be April 27. |
|
And it's hard to remember when Easter is because it moves like Passover, depending on the Moon, any time from March 22 to early May.
Often, the Easter Bunny comes to the homes of children and leaves baskets of candy and hard boiled eggs, then the family goes to church, and then has a big meal. Ham is the traditional Easter dinner, a holdover from the sad days when Christians ate the ham specifically because it's not Kosher.

3. REALLY?! So it's NOT a coincidence that you eat traif while we're stocking up on matzoh? |
|
Why not pull out your uncircumcised penises and wave them in our faces, too?
:P

2. eat chocolate and watch the NCAA tournament! |
|
I'm not religious (although I love the renewal/spring aspect of the holiday) and I don't eat ham.
My kid did get an Easter basket and I did make cinnamon bread. We used to color Easter Eggs until he became too old to care.

4. No, I think the bunnies lay chocolate eggs or something. |
|
but around here they throw eggs filled with confetti (cascarones). What the Easter bunny has to do with a guy who supposedly rose from the dead is beyond me.

6. While everyone's in church, the Were Rabbit raids their gardens and refrigerators looking for eggs. |
|
Once found the eggs are dipped in plant dyes and hidden around the yard. The Were Rabbit believes this teaches a lesson to the Christians, but they think it's a fun treasure hunt. Poor wittle were wabbit.

8. Several years ago, the Onion had this to say |
|
http://www.theonion.com/content/node/50097Not quite as good as the time their headline read "Pope forgives Alter Boys for Leading Priests Astray" but much more in keeping with the Easter theme.
