I need some tax help tonight please...
I need to electronically file someone's income income taxes for a prior year (2006).

I just need to file federal, not state.

This is an original return that was never filed, not an amended return.

Can someone link me to a site where I can electronically file a prior year federal tax return, preferably for free?

Thank you very much in advance.

1. I may be wrong
but unless you have the professional tax software used by tax preparers, you can't file a prior year's return electronically...

2. Try taxact.com
I know for sure that you can file electronically for free there, but I don't know about a prior year.

4. Thank you lizzie, droopy, and madrone...
I ended up downloading the forms from irs.gov and I will file them by hand.

Thanks again for your responses.

5. I tried to file electronically-couldn't
It is just too much. Perhaps because I am an independent contractor and had to use an unusual form. But I chose to go to a tax preparer and play it safe, even if it cost $60 dollars.

6. I always file electronically if I have that option...
but it seems that it does not let you do that for prior years.
