My newest poem...Illness.

The blood courses sluggishly under my skin

Dry wrinkles appear

My nerves are flattened

Muscles lie slackly against my powdery bones

Tomorrow I may live, or die

Right now it’s too much effort

To think

The world is alien through feverish eyes

Any minute now there will be a phantom here

He will carry me away

To the place where

I will feel whole, and well, again.

just today? It really captures things well--"powdery bones" and "sluggish blood."

9. Oh Peggy

As our twisted fates would have it, I woke up feeling like Sh$t this morning myself.
Decided to take anti-nausea meds (left over from my husband's last overseas trip) and
drag myself into work.

So I think I would appreciate your poem a whole lot more if I didn't
identify with it so much at the moment.
