Please pass the salt
I was at the doctor's office on Friday, getting a recheck of my damned shoulder. When the MA came in and took my blood pressure, she mumbled to herself, "this can't be right." I asked her about it and she asked me to let her take my blood pressure again. I let her. She shook her head a few times. I asked her if my blood pressure was low. She said it was extremely low. I asked her if it was in the 90/60 range and she said it was. I told her that 90/60 is normal for me and that my pulse would be in the 95 to 100 BPM range. Sure enough my pulse was 99.

I am probably the only adult person in the USA being told to ADD salt to her diet.

1. That's a switch!
Most folks are being told to cut out the salt...

As long as you feel well, there's no cause for concern, though...

:hi:

2. I wish I had that problem
I'd have a salt lick attached to my monitor if I could.

3. I do sometimes get a little woozy if I stand up too fast
And I rarely salt my food. I figure I get enough salt in the processed food I eat.

4. I get the same thing
I also can't stand still too long (especially with my knees locked ). There's too many times I've nearly passed out at a magazine rack from standing up and not realizing I was nearly going to faint.

I ALWAYS get woozy when I stand up too fast after I've been kneeling down for a couple of minutes.

5. I used my wooziness to get snarky with someone once...
I went to this party, when I was undergoing treatment for cancer, and some fool came to the table I was sitting at and started asking questions about when I was going to die. Knowing that if I stood up too fast I would keel over from dizziness, I stood up too fast, and passed out for about 30 seconds.

6. You should use that more often
Long line at the grocery store? PASS OUT
Too much traffic on the way back home? Drive over to the shoulder and PASS OUT
Sucky table service at a restaurant? PASS OUT

:D

8. Actually, my mom was told to do that too, Kitchey.
She had been following the usual guidelines for older people, but at one of her last check-up's before she passed away, the doctor told her she needed more salt AND sugar.

9. my bf has very low blood pressure
I do my best to raise it, but it's still low. A couple years ago, he fainted after getting out of the hot tub and smacked his head on the kitchen counter. Took an ambulance ride that night.
