What do you love best about your pets |
|
Edited on Tue Mar-25-08 06:54 PM by turtlensue
A copycat AND a real topic. I love that my kitties know when I'm upset or sick and become extra snuggly. Last night I was really upset when I crawled into bed and instead of running around like maniacs as they usually do BOTH kitties jumped up on the bed and snuggled up next to me. I'll often wake up in the middle of the night with them that way, but going to sleep with them around me. Highly unusual. I think they were comforting me...:loveya:

1. Snuggling is the best. Every night, and even if I nap during the day. |

5. My dog knows when anybody is sick or sad |
|
and she's a wonderful comforter to anybody going through a rough time. :loveya: My mom and I joke about how "dog therapy" is the best medicine, but really, having a dog snuggle up to you or just be near you when you're feeling down is incredibly good for the soul, I think.
My cats are highly entertaining. :D The male thinks he's God's gift to catkind, and he's always striking these ridiculously elegant poses to prove it. Don't get me wrong, he's actually pretty friendly and easygoing, but damn if he doesn't know what a handsome cat he is. The little female is insanely adorable, and is also a bit of a klutz, which makes for some funny moments. :)
Long story short, my pets rock, and I love them. :loveya: :hi:

and she loves going canoing with me. She has a bright red doggie PFD and sits proudly in front - until she decides it's time to jump in. Then we BOTH end up swimming. She is, however, afraid of thunder and ends up in my lap - all 80 pounds of her.

8. my cat ALWAYS comes when called |
|
....and when whistled at, he flops on the floor. It's the craziest thing. The more you whistle, the more he wiggles.
Also, I appreciate the fact that if I sit up late with something going on -- a blood sugar issue or something -- he sits right at my elbow as long as I'm up.
Oh, and he sleeps above my head at night. What a dear.

What I love best about the little furry monsters is when I come home they are all so happy to see me. When I come in all four great me at the door. Their tails are wagging so hard that they have trouble moving their back ends.

13. The fact that none of them come in the house, ever. |
|
I consider the squirrels, birds, and occasional skunk in my yard to be my pets. I love that my "pets" are all free to do as they please when they please.

15. My newly appointed 4 legged protection |
|
follows me around like a cootie. Sleeps on the pillows next to me. Never lets me out of his sight.
My oldest dog is a furry little nurse. If I have a cut or even a mosquito bite, he'll come over and tend to it with his "magic doggie saliva".
My youngest insists on make the aforementioned oldest play with her. She keeps him young and active.
Then...then, there are the rescues. A whole 'nother story. No...12 other stories.

17. Not exactly. I run a rescue. |

I have 3 dogs that are mine. I have 12 dogs that have either been rehabbed and are looking for new homes, or are in the midst of rehab and will be looking for new homes soon.

20. One of my exes ran a greyhound shelter out of her house for a while |
|
(or rather her parents did, but she was part of it. She basically ran things over the weekend when they were at their regular business that they ran.), and they had several dachshunds of their own. They ended up with 10 dogs of their own. 5 tall and lean, and 5 long little doggies. :)

18. I loved that my lizard was bright and curious |
|
and liked to cuddle, even if it was more out of an affection for my body heat than an affection for me. :P She definately liked me more than other people though. When given the choice between being held by me or by anyone else, she invariably chose me. I think it was a safety/comfort thing. She knew me. She knew I would let her snuggle safely, and hold her when she was cold.
It was interesting seeing how she could learn associations though. I was rather surprised, I didn't realize lizards were smart enough to do that until I had one. But she learned fairly quickly that if I stuck my hand in the tank, but my hand didn't go near her or try to pick her up, than I'd done something elsewhere in the tank. So she'd go investigate. Usually check the water bowl first, see if I'd filled it. Then she'd check the food bowl to see if I'd given her some mealworms or something. Failing that, she'd just explore for a bit and see if there was anything different.
