What a treat! PBS showing animated "Peter and the Wolf" |
|
:D
This is one of the first classical pieces I was exposed to. :-)
Someone did a stop motion animation to it.

1. Um... someone won an Oscar for it, too |

If it's the Oscar-winning one, you can find it in three parts on Youtube. edit: link to part 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZdcVFU5vyU

3. It's one of my favorite pieces too |
|
I heard an NPR interview with the filmmakers soon after the Oscars and was amazed at how much work went into it. IIRC, they built a forest on a huge soundstage in Poland but the filmmakers had also spent some time touring Russia to get just the right look to the landscape and buildings. I'm glad PBS has picked it up because sometimes even award-winning shorts don't get much mainstream play.

4. I wish PBS would show more shorts |
|
We have a local program, NC Voices, that shows short student films and docs, but nothing on the national level. I love short films.
