I just had a blank email sent to me. Is this some kind of cyber insult?

If someone becomes angry at an email you sent them and they reply with a blank email, is this some kind of "f**k you" in email-land?

When I have got blank emails in the past I replied simply with three question marks. Gets the original emailer thinking as to what may have happened. Just as long as they don't respond with three exclamation marks...

It's usually followed up with a real email though. I've accidentally sent blank emails in the past and followed up with it.
