How much sleep do you require at night to be productive the next day?
During the week I shoot for 5 hours a night, thrilled if I get 6, and lose most coherency with less than 3.

1. My sleep patterns are all out of whack
I get about 4-5 hours of sleep per night. I work second shift and I have such issues falling asleep. I usually get up between 8-9 a.m. but then I have a 2-3 hour nap in the mid-afternoon before I get up and ready for work.

I get my best sleep when I am napping. Without the naps, I don't think I could make it.

3. No amount of sleep could possibly make me productive.
But if I get 7 hours I might not be utterly useless.

4. I need at least 4 hours to be coherent,
but I have immune defficiencies that cause me to aim regularly for 7 hours. Sleep is important to far more of our physiology than just alertness.

6. Hard to tell
1 day a week (when I am on duty with the FA squad) I get anywhere between 2-6 hours. That sort of messes me up for the rest of the week. If I were to guess 7-8 hours

7. Less than 6 and I'm pretty useless
7-8 works well for me.

9. 7 -8 hours
with less, I'm pretty frickin' useless. The only exception is if I went to bed early without having a full day of crap, then I can only sleep for 5 hours and be fine.

10. 4 is good, 5 or 6 is best.
If I get 8 or 9, I'm dragging the next day. Yeah, weird.

11. I really need 7 or 8 hours.
I can get by with less for a night or two, but it catches up to me pretty quickly.

12. 9 to 11 hours.
Who ever said eight hours was the RULE was a complete jerkwad.

Eight hours is not enough for me.

And I sleep like the dead, once I'm out cold.

Any less than 5 or 6 hours and I just can't function at ALL.

16. 8 "good" hours, no waking up, deep sleeping
I love to wake up with no aches and pains, that means I slept well the night before.
