1. Club soda. Oxy Clean if you've got it.
Diluting with clear, cold water and blotting continuously also helps.

3. Yes, if you pour a little pyramid of salt on to a wet spot on a carpet
the liquid is absorbed up into the salt. Then buzzard should try the things in the first post.
Resolve carpet cleaner worked very well when a friend spilled red wine on white carpeted stairs at a rented vacation condo.

5. cover it with salt. it will soak into the salt and not the carpet

7. Then definitely try the Oxy.
It'll probably take several applications, but hopefully you'll get it all out. Good luck!

Drink more wine and you will care about the carpet less.
