And yes, that is "pleasure" reading, as in not for class. Jeebus, I need an intervention.

2. holy Volkers, BB... you need to get a life...
OK, I admit I have none, so I am re-reading the Merry Gentry gothic/mystery/porn series. Mind candy, so to speak.

I'm working up the nerve to download(or buy) and read Das Kapital in the original German. Talk about econ geekdom...

Thogh my "pleasure reading" is usually dense and overly theoretical political stuff lately.

Have you read it? It's fantastic.

I can't wait for around May 22nd. I need air. And I cannot believe I signed on for another year. I'm insane. But, I'm actually really learning stuff this semester. It's refreshing. :D

20. Ooh, I'm really interested in reading Shock Doctrine.
My sociology professor last semester recommended it, even though he said the stuff in there is nothing new, but then this is a guy who spends all of his time reading every journal aricle and book on neoliberalism that comes his way, haha.

24. It's incredibly detailed and *so* well written....get it!
It essentially deals with economics gone so f'n wrong, and my mind is just blown by this book. Even though so much of it is familiar, being a longtime DUer and politics junkie, it's incredible. Naomi Klein is a fantastic researcher and writer.

:hi:

12. It's a good book.
There's one mind bender I like where they demonstrate, falsely of course, that the circumference of a dime is the same as a half dollar.

Some other crazy stuff too. If you like that stuff, it's a fun book.

I love graphs and math and money.

I'd love to learn more about economics - it's one area of knowledge I am too deficient in.

22. Completely up your alley...I love Economics.
Edited on Fri Mar-28-08 10:27 PM by bicentennial_baby
I used to be a PoliSci/Int'l Studies major and then...I took an economics course, and realized that economics is at the heart of nearly every issue. At first I was dazzled, then after a few years I became disillusioned by the lack of correlation between the theories and reality. Now I'm exploring Behavioral Econ, which is my Independent Study in the Fall. I'm re-energized for Economics once again. :D
