5. Bobby Sherman had most of his hits in '70 and '71. |
|
That's why I included him in my "Worst '70s Teen Idols" poll.

That was even more lame than the Archies. At least the Archies had a hit record.

8. Actually, I had a crush on Gary Lewis when i was about 10 |
|
I loved "This Diamond Ring" and "Everybody Loves a Clown."
He was Jerry Lewis' son, as you may know.
The rest of them-- argh again!

10. What? No Bobby Goldsboro??? |
|
Discounting "Little Things", which was actually tolerable - we need not go into the rest....

11. Never really thought of him as a teen idol. |
|
I always figured his music was aimed more at the stay-at-home-mom crowd of the late '60s.

12. I never really did either |
|
But I thought I'd mention him since I never really thought of some of the other "contestants" in that vein, either.
Actually, I tend to think of teen idols inthe late 50's - '62 or so - Fabian, Neil Sedaka, Frankie Avalon, Johnny Tillotson, etc.

Bobby Goldsboro! First you remind me of "Running Bear" and now "Honey."
I'm bringing up "Haunted House" (1964) BEFORE you do! Who did THAT piece of musical excrement?

16. "Haunted House" - Jumpin' Gene Simmons |
|
And not, he was *not* the guy from Kiss! Two entirely different men, both known as Gene Simmonns.

|
I never could stand them although Mike Nesmith is a genuine musician. :puke:

14. Voted for (or against) Patty Duke |
|
I very much respect her for her acting talent but as a singer, eeeehhh!!
The one song Dino Dezi and Billy had "Not the Lovin' Kind" didn't sound half bad. But by then the public figured them out and it tanked.
I never thought of the 1910 Fruitgum Company and the Ohio Express as teen idol groups. I thought the bubblegum scene was largely faceless.
