I like boring ambient techno music.
Really. Sometimes I just like stuff I can throw on in the background and not have to actively listen to.

It's also pretty much the only music I can listen to while reading.

1. I've started dabbling in ambient music lately
just to use as background music for various things. Nothing too techno-ish, but I'll probably get around to it eventually.

4. Who are you listening to?
I can personally recommend VNV Nation and Suicide Commando. I think you'll like them.

7. I love ambient noise even more than the techno.
Bands like Sunn 0))) or Earth are very relaxing to me.

Of course, I'm a mental case... :)

i was thinking boards of canada or brian eno

i'd suggest boards of canada - twoism as a first album to check out if you're interesting

its definately low key ambient but i don't know if i'd call it boring

12. I'm strange like that.
Merzbow and John Weise relax me too, so take my opinion on this with a large grain of salt. :)

9. What I have heard of Sunn O))) wasn't what I would call relaxing
I liked it, just not relaxing.

Try
Global Communications
Amon Tobin
Boards of Canada
Lustmord for some dark ambient
Thievery Corporation.

10. It is to me, but as I say, I'm weird.

I also find Merzbow relaxing, in a white noise kind of way.

I have some Lustmord and Global Communications. I'll have to investigate on the rest. Thanks for the tips.

13. I'll second Boards of Canada
Good stuff. And of course, my perennial favorites, DJ Shadow, Thievery Corp and Caia. United Future Organization, The Orb, Groove Armada, and a few tracks by The Egg, like Venice Beach, which is simply sublime:
