If someone annoys you and you don't want to be bothered, put them on ignore. Telling people you are putting on ignore, in my opinion, is childish and spiteful. It's sort of like giving someone the silent treatment when you are a kid.

If they don't respond, I do a search of everything they have ever posted to try and figure out where they live. Once I have that figured out, I track them down and take their pets hostage. Then I say, "Try and ignore me now".
