I just foiled Apple's software update
Bastards tried to install Safari on my machine, you know, the 'secure' web browser that helped a MacBook Air get hacked in two minutes.  I managed to thwart their efforts.

1. I've been refusing their updates since the iPhone came out.
A 50MB update so I can use iTunes with a $500 cell phone that I don't have? I don't think so.

2. I don't need them trying to bundle iTunes with Quicktime, either.
Assholes.

3. I read someone saying elsewhere that Apple is becoming the new RealNetworks.
Always trying to get you to download shit you don't need, attempting to set itself as the default media player for everything, essentially hijacking your computer.

5. There's a way around that
Open "Apple Software Update"

Edit-->Preferences...

On the "Schedule" tab, select "Never," then click "OK."  Quit the program and never see it pop up again.  To check for updates to iTunes or whatever, either tell that specific program to look for updates, or just run the Apple Software Update on its own.

8. I'm not claiming to have one.
Apple, however, has long claimed that their software is perfect and wants to take over my computer.

7. I sent out a message to our company to be on the look out for that
And will have to use patch manager to remove the quicktime update from everyone's machine. Fucking assholes.

9. I ignore most updates from them.
Only the security updates get my attention. The rest of it is seldom needed.
