Monster finally came to town, just in time for the pre-Oscar rush. A friend and I went to see it this afternoon.
I had read a little about it before I saw it, and I was prepared to be disappointed. I'm not crazy about blood and gore, so serial killer movies aren't usually my thing. But I was intrigued by the tremendous ovation Charlize Theron got from her peers when she won the Golden Globes, so I'd been wanting to see it.
I have to say that I was impressed. Theron's performance is outstanding. Unlike so many roles these days, this one actually required the actor to ACT. And she did!!! Boy, did she!! It's not just the 25-30 pounds she gained and the incredible makeup. She really got inside the skin of this person and brought her to the screen. As far as I can tell, she deserves the accolades she's received.
This movie is definitely worth seeing.

gator & I just saw Monster.Theron was amazing, real. She gave the role her all !! She "DOES" deserve the accolades that have come her way!
