I love Clinton.
Bill Clinton, that is.

I saw him give a speech today and I've decided I could happily listen to him read a phone book.

And yes, I realize that he has faults and his presidency wasn't perfect, but...I love him anyway.

:loveya:

1. Me, too, L
But his wife, well, is another post. I'd proudly address him as
"Mr President" if I were fortunate enough to meet him. In being
polite, I'd address her as "Madame Senator". Gotta respect the
office. Except, of course for Chimpie. I'd address him as
"Mr Asshole", flip him off, then turn my back-all in one motion.
Hey, I've rehearsed it!

5. Yes, well...
his wife is indeed another post. Clearly, I'm still uncommitted. ;)

I have huge amounts of respect for Bill, and plenty for Hillary too. But I definitely prefer him.

I'm with you on Chimpy. The office does have respect built into it, but it's certainly respect that can (and clearly has been, in his case) lost. I'd sooner spit in his general direction than look at him.

10. For the record, Your Honor
JE was my first choice. Unfortunately, for many reasons-mostly the media, it
didn't work out. He spent our contributions well in an uphill battle. I anticipate
his endorsement for whomever prior to the NC primary.

2. Did you catch the way he went really light on the Smiths?
And hard on the Johnsons?

3. My dear Huskerlaw!
You're back!

How was the convention?

I'll bet it was amazing to hear Bill Clinton!

Did you take any pics?

:hi:

6. It was GREAT!!
I'll probably post about it sometime tomorrow. I'm too tired to really pull my thoughts together tonight.

Yes, I did take pictures, but unfortunately the lighting was such that it was REALLY HARD to get good shots! So I've got some blurry, crappy ones that I'll post tomorrow. :D

11. I was there yesterday.
I thought there was going to be a rumble between the Leno and the Migden folks. I'm glad that I brought my brass knuckles and broken bottles.

7. I certainly respect Hillary
I'm not sure that I love her, but respect, yes. And if she gets the nomination, she gets 100% of my support.

8. I got to meet him last friday.
I posted some pics of the event over in the NC forum. He was great. His speeech made me remember why I voted for him twice.

Here is my favorite pic of the event..

9. Great picture!

I had a great spot, but the lighting made it impossible to get a good picture. Why they made the convention hall so freakin' dark (but with super-bright lights randomly placed throughout) is beyond me.

And yeah, I definitely remembered why I supported him twice. I was only 14 in 1992, but I adored him. And by 1996, I could and did vote for him. Happily.

12. Thanks
I had the same problem with a lot of my pics. I was sitting right in the front but the lighting wasn't all that great. Out of the 180 pics I took maybe 100 turned out ok.

14. In happier times:

This was with my family and Al Gore back in 1995.
I last saw and talked with him about two months ago,
and he looked pretty worn out. I'll bet he's happier
doing what he likes doing rather than getting involved
in the primaries.

15. You know what I remember most about Bill Clinton
Edited on Mon Mar-31-08 04:21 AM by enigmatic
One day just after 9/11, when he came back to NYC and walked the streets; obviously still-shaken people gravitated to him and he literally hugged them and cried with them as they wept, one by one. I've become cynical at my (cough, cough) middle age, but I couldn't help but be moved by the scene. W fakes badly his compassion for others and it shows; whatever you think of Bill Clinton, he was calming, almost cathartic presence in NYC that day, and I'll never forget that.
