Also, I agree with you about the name Renee- and for me, much of my liking for it does have to do with connecting it with the Left Banke song as well!

My friend's son named his daughter that. I didn't like it at first, but it has since grown on me. I think it is a lovely name for a girl.
We named our daughter Marisa, (pronounced Ma-REE-sa) way back in 1976, long before it became popular. It means "Star of the Sea". I went to high school with a girl from Cuba with that name. I thought it was a beautiful name. Also, as it turned out; my future hubby had multiple amorous adventures with a young lady from France having the same name.
And, so we agreed...but for very different reasons. ;)

We call her Molly; Amalea is an old family name on my mom's side. It's supposedly the Scandinavian version of Emily, which, oddly enough, was my oldest daughter's name! I didn't know at the time that I essentially named my two oldest kids the same thing!

My daughter's name is Emma - an old classic. We didn't realize how popular it was until the nurse at the hospital told me about all of the Emmas, Emilys and Hannahs she'd been seeing lately. (Really???)

Why? Daisy because it is a family name and the name of a grandmother who tragically died in childbirth.
Lucinda because it is lovely sounding and she could be called Lucy or Lulu.
Coco because it is too utterly fabulous and chic and practically nobody has it.
Georgiana or Georgia because it is delightfully Victorian and you can also call her George.

82. My wife's name is Joanna. |
|
It's a beautiful name, because it's hers.
When first I was in love with her, I sang her Dylan's "Visions of Joanna." It was a wonderful evening.

come to mind.
I suppose all the Maggies out there are really Margarets..and most of the Katies may really be Catherines?
I am supremely tired of the trendy names of the last 25 years..
and do not even get me started on alternate spellings, phoney apostrophes, made up sounding names, and names that appear to be the result of scrabble tiles thrown down at random.
