heatstroke, air conditioning, taking off for cooler climates, frying eggs on the sidewalk, super hydration, going to the lake, swimming, getting used to the heat, then by the end of summer it will feel cold at 70 degrees

6. the warmer weather will come and go for at least another 4-6 weeks |
|
but, hypothetically, it means having the windows open, taking more walks in the park, the lilacs blooming and firing up the grill
of course, the possibility of six inches of snow also exists

i've actually been sleeping with my bedroom window open for a couple of weeks now. i've got one of those window fans and i've set it to exhaust, so i get a bit of fresh air while not freezing. it's also nice because we smoke in the house and it keeps it a bit more fresh

it means sweating my butt off for 8 hours a day in a NON- air-conditioned school full of squirmy, sweaty, antsy children who would rather be outdoors!
After June 10, I will stay indoors until Aug. 22 when the sweat-fest begins anew.
Sorry to be such a complainer, but I HATE, HATE, HATE to be hot. I really like the cold weather.
BTW.... the mockingbirds are back in western PA... saw one today. He was singin' his heart out!

I don't understand why the school year is so blasted long now... We used to go back after Labor Day and get out around Memorial Day!
RE: Mockingbirds....I think the male with the best repertoire of tunes is the one most attractive to the lady mockingbirds. The one I saw this a.m. was a virtuoso among mockingbirds! They become very nasty when they have a nest, though! Look out for dive-bombing birds! We had one once that wouldn't let us out of our front door, and I have actually seen them swoop and peck at the cat. Very territorial birds.
