I was at a funeral today.

My cousin was 54. I was a pall bearer. As we walked into the church they had his casket open. His mom,my auntie,saw him,her grandson saved her from falling. She sobbed out "My baby boy,my little baby boy."

How horrifying, to have your child die before you...

Children are supposed to outlive their parents...

It must be the worst sort of loss...

5. A mother's love is what hit me.

She,at 84,saw him as her little boy. Time in that moment was irrelevant.

And hearing her say that just brought the whole loss home to me in a most vivid way...

recovered from the loss of my baby brother (murdered by his estranged wife in 1995 when he was only 29).
