80s music is the new oldies
http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080223/ENT/802230310/1091

The music blaring from the speakers of a small pub on a recent Friday night seemed like typical oldies fare: Aretha Franklin's "Respect," the 1970s tune "Disco Lady" and the 1950s surf instrumental "Tequila." Then, "Karma Chameleon" -- the 1983 hit by Culture Club -- came on.

The music was from WCBS-FM, a New York-based station that used to rely on songs from the '60s and '70s, and occasionally, the '50s.

Now, like similar stations around the country, WCBS has deemed music from the '80s as the new oldies.

Not that the station calls them oldies - "Classic Hits" is the favored term.

1. You and me both, Pryderi!

When I was young, I used to roll my eyes at the middle-aged people who got all excited over '50s songs. Now I'm sure young kids mock us when we enjoy '80s tunes! My chickens are coming home to roost, and they're pretty wrinkled!

3. I remember "Greaser Day" in HS when everyone would dress up from the '50s. Now everyone dresses up
for '80s with Flashdance leg warmers etc.

2. "This damn bursitis is killing me! I need a glass of wine and some Duran Duran!"
20 years ago, if I knew the following statement would come out of my very own mouth, I'd have killed myself...

"This damn bursitis is killing me! I need a glass of wine and some Duran Duran!"

But I said just that on Saturday. I'm old. It's official.

Time to turn the tables on the young swine and say, "never trust anyone under thirty!"
