I went to a 2:00 interview today. I had the time wrong: it was at 1:00. |
|
FUCK.
The only thing that saves it for me is that I know the HR director from a previous job search. At the time she worked for the firm that was competing for me with the firm whose offer I ultimately accepted (who just laid me off).
Just fucking shoot me now. I can't believe this.
I'm going back Thursday at 10 AM - yes, confirmed, 10 AM - to meet the person I was to have met today at 1:00. Normally this should be a second interview.
Fuck.

1. Ah Bertha, that sucks... |
|
If I didn't know how much you needed the job, I'd just say "well, we're all human"... but I know this could mean so much to you. I hope they overlook it; anybody can make a mistake like that, especially when stressed.

3. They still want to see you. |

Missing today sucks but they still want to see you. Relax if you can. (Take my advice. I'm not using it). :-) Everyone has messed up an appointment at one time or another.

was the right time, but it was supposed to have started at 10. Oh well. I got the job, though - don't sweat it too much.

6. ... and, when they ask you your biggest mistake, or |
|
however it's phrased (if they do ask you) you can always make a joke of it "Well, I seem to show up for interviews an hour late" -
While there are a lot of people looking for work, it is *hard* to find good employees, and you are no doubt excellent, so I'm sure they won't hold it against you, esp. as they want to see you again.
OK, I'll quit now.

5. I'm sure that your sparkling resume will speak for itself. |
|
and that your future employer will completely forget about your punctuality indiscretion.
