What should I wear for a "Latin dance class"?
I'm starting one on Thursday with my SIL and we have no idea how to dress for it.

Flowy skirt and a tank top?

1. Good butt pants would be a start...
...then comfortable shoes, and a semi-tank top.

6. I mean, when we go out here, like, all the women seem to be wearing...
...good but pants. It's part of the sultry aspect of Latin dancing. I think it's like clear heels for strippers or something.

2. Anything you like. Flowy skirt and tank top would be fine.
Wear heels, though not ridiculous ones.

I take latin and ballroom dance lessons. I love the latin motion; the way you glide over the floor. Or the instructor does, anyway. We're learning the cha-cha-cha right now.

4. Do I need a partner? If my SIL is my partner,
am I going to get stuck being the "guy" since I'm taller than her?

7. They will probably rotate partners
Usually there are more women than men in these classes (I used to teach dance). So thats how they work it.
You could learn to lead if you like..Height has nothing to do with it..I can lead in jitterbug...and I'm FIVE FEET tall!
Have fun!!

5. Shortish loose skirt
Latin dances involve a lot of hip movement and leg movement. If you ever see ballroom latin dancers, they wear skirts that usually are mid thigh. You will look and move better in something not too long. Tank top is okay but again, there's a lot of body motion in latin dancing, keep that in mind--you may want something a bit more, er, supportive.

8. must wear heels
As a latina, I can tell you that the dances are much easier when you have heels on

Have fun!
