Poetry at the open mic...tonight, I learned something...
Every week, I've gone, and I've been so damn nervous...

It hasn't stopped me...

But tonight, I said to myself...lighten up! Have some fun with it!

And I did.

And something very cool happened...

The audience had fun too...

I think I have this thing licked!

Here's the two poems I read tonight:

Love is the reason I write

It has slashed my borders

And freed my heart mind soul

The newness of time is its gift

I have walked in strange landscapes

With only your smile as guide

Now visions fill me

Passions animate

And all this time

I’d thought I was too old.

Illness

The blood courses sluggishly under my parching skin

Dry wrinkles appear

My nerves are flattened

Muscles lie slackly against my powdery bones

Tomorrow I may live, or die

Right now it’s too much effort

To think

The world is alien through feverish eyes

A phantom will arrive

He may transport me

To the place where

I will feel whole, and well, again

Or he may kill me

I am indifferent.

4. Hey Chris...
You made this old lady laugh, you did!

My husband told me that if he hadn't known better, he would have thought I was really sick!

I think I improved the ending...

I can really relate "Illness" to a period in my life when I was not well. The first poem is lovely. Nice work.

7. My dear Droopy!
Oooh, thanks!

I find the more I write, the better I like it...

I wrote "Illness" last week when I was recovering from a GI bug...no fun at all!

10. That's so great that you've kept at it
Plenty of people would be too afraid to try, let alone try again.

Your poetry is great - I'm glad you're having fun. :hi:

11. My dear skygazer!
I have to keep at it!

The words bang around in me, and they won't let me rest till I write them down...

And that's truly how it is...

I really appreciate that you enjoy my poetry!

It's one thing for me to have fun...

But if I can bring you some fun too...well...

That's even better!

Thank you, sweetie...
