question for the DUers with tattoos....
Can anyone recommend a good website for design ideas? I want to get a tattoo to cover the silly butterfly I got when I was 18 but I need inspiration.

Thanks in advance! :hi:

1. No, I wish I could
I got all my tats from my own ideas.

You might try to look up specific parlors. Lots of them have a web presence, and they'll have pics of their work.

2. good idea...
out of curiosity, what were your ideas for your tats?

I would like to find something with Goddess symbolism but I haven't found anything so far that I think would work in the place I want the tattoo. It's fun to search though.

5. Just go to a good local artist and talk about it with them. Shops usually offer free consultations.

If you have a general idea of what you might want just explain it to them and they can draw something up for you. Any good artist should have lots of reference books and stuff in the shop and such.

6. Ya beat me to it, Primate...
Best suggestion here.

Besides, if you have the artist draw something up, it will be one of a kind, and a lot more personal than some cookie-cutter design that you may see walking by on someone else in the future.

7. And the drawing will give you at least a sense of how talented an artist the tattooist is.
Whether that always translates to how talented a tattooist s/he is is another question. But if they cannot draw beautifully they might not tattoo worth a darn.

8. Tattoojoy.com is good for ideas
A good tattoo artist will be able to work with you to draw up a design.

11. here is a link to the tattoo section of Body Modification Ezine.
I have been looking at this site since the 90's. there is LOTS to look at here for tattoos along with lots of radical, non-tattoo related body modifications in other sections of the site. Also do what Primate1 says and search out a good tattooist in your area and visit her/him at their shop.

12. I like tattoojohnny.com
I would NEVER get anything on there put on my body--I draw my own tattoos--but tattoojohnny.com has some very nice flash.
