27. Even the trailor for "Valley of the Dolls" is a riot
"Neely O' Hara; a nice kid until someone put her name in lights and turned her into a lush. She took the red pills."

Every time I see it, I am amazed at the musical number that Susan Hayward's character performs on stage, "I'll Plant My Own Tree". It is just so awful. Of course, in the movie, it's a huge hit.

A melodrama with MTM, Ted Danson and Christine Lahti...

I just started laughing in the middle of the theater...

I had to get up and walk out I was laughing so hard...

And there were deaths, and affairs and all sorts of drama, even an earthquake, and it was so funny...

on USA. It was called "Jeepers Creepers II." It was about some kind of creatures that come emerge every 23 years and snack on humans. Gross-out funny -- though I have no idea why anyone would waste their time making this movie.

That scene where Val Kilmer chomps his teeth at Tom Cruise - OMG hilarious! I remember watching Dinner and a Movie on TBS and after the dramatic underwear scene with TC the host was standing against the wall with just his undies on acting all dramatic at some cooking that had gone wrong.

Can't believe how serious this movie was taken when it first came out - treated like such an epic.

51. I saw one in Japan thirty years ago called "Ningen no Shoumei"
Edited on Thu Apr-03-08 09:26 AM by Lydia Leftcoast
It was a convoluted mystery story with an international cast (including Broderick Crawford and George Kennedy, who must have been REALLY hard up for money to participate in this mess).

There were too many bizarritudes in it to describe here, but just to give you an idea, the last scene, kind of an epilogue, has George Kennedy walking along a burnt-out street in the South Bronx by himself (why?) when all of a sudden, a black man jumps out of the rubble with an knife and starts hysterically stabbing George Kennedy to death, shouting (in English) "Japanese lover!"

This was considered a serious, blockbuster movie in Japan, and here I was in the theater, slumped down in my seat, trying desperately to keep from laughing out loud.

"On the surface, everything seems fine. I've got this great guy. And he loves my kid. And he sure does like me a lot. And I can't live like that. It's not the way I'm built."

"I love him! I love him for the man he wants to be. And I love him for the man he almost is."

"I love you. You... you complete me. And I just..."

"Shut up, just shut up. You had me at "hello"."

"We live in a cynical world. A cynical world. And we work in a business of tough competitors. I love you. You... complete me."

"I hated myself... no, I hated my place in the world."

"You are Jerry Ma-fucken-guire!"
