Actually, it's the away crew, isn't it?

Swearing to never get married is one thing. Swearing to go without nookie for the rest of your life is a whole 'nother ballgame. I think the Night's Watch is gonna end up disbanded at the end of the last book, though, because I am 100% positive that Dany and Jon are going to get married. ;)

Drop me off on Alderaan about 200 years before the Battle of Yavin. Alderaan is a liberal's paradise.

Studying history and art at Alderaan University. Going for long soul-searching walks across the oceans of grass. Living as a hermit for a while in an isolated Killik mound. Checking out the babes in the Aldera nightclubs.

Those Alderaanian women...hot, Hot, HOT!

Good always wins. Very few people are ever seriously sick or crippled or dead. And every story ends with people living happily ever after.

That seems like a very good world to live in, even if you have to deal with talking mice.

51. Actually, I just want to know some basic stuff.
-How many planets and moons with gravity equivalent to G are in the sun's habitable zone?
-How do they travel between bodies fast enough to not need faster-than-light capability, but slow enough to apparently not have to worry about relativistic effects?
-Did they really take horses, cattle, and all the other terrestrial fauna seen on the show in their generational space ships for the specific purpose of using them if they ever found a habitable planet?
-Why is advanced holographic technology commonplace but directed energy weapons are seen as advanced and are exceedingly rare?

Simple stuff like that.

59. If it's all in one system, I'd imagine their high speed wouldn't need to be ridiculously fast
and relativistic effects would be minimal.

As far as the first question, I'm sure there's an answer in some handbook somewhere.

The question about horses and cattle... well, if you're on a giant space ark, you gotta have something to eat. And if they didn't have livestock to eat, they probably had fertilized embryos to grow once they reached their destinations.

And the last questions is answered in the show fairly well. It's not that they're so advanced and rare... it's that the government doesn't LET people get their hands on them. People like Rance Burgess can go around the laws because he pretty much owns the damn planet. But the only people who are supposed to be able to get their hands on that stuff is the Alliance.

Edited on Thu Apr-03-08 04:19 PM by realisticphish
I love the universe it creates, but...

Ok, there are two regiments from Maine and New York (I think the artillery reg. was from NY). And somehow they happen to have balloon operators who can collect hydrogen, weapons experts, railroad experts, etc. Not, you know, a bunch of fisherman and lumberjacks. By the time they get to the "land ironclads" and rockets, I got bored.

But the first 4-5 books are fantastic, and I highly recommend them

Becoming a Companion should be easy enough in the Who-niverse; just hang out in London, run towards the alien invasion/scary monster(s)/screaming, fleeing crowds/ and you can't help but run into him.;)

Seems like you'd have a lot more freedom than in Star Trek. All the aliens don't look like humans with some disfigurement as well. Also no namby-pamby Federation.

Farscape is the one sci-fi universe I WOULDN'T want to join. Seems like good ol Earth is more peaceful than that universe.
