"It Had To Be You"

Oh my god was it horribly preditable, wildly implausible, poorly scripted, but what the hell. It had Michael Vartan and it had a happy ending. You're talking to the girl who got snowbound with a video tape of "Cutting Edge" fifteen years ago as her only source of electronic entertainment for three days thanks to the Storm Of The Century. While her fiance was partying in New Orleans for good measure.

Anyone else want to fess up to annoyingly cloyingly ridiculous romantic comedies you'll watch anyway?

1. I enjoyed "Tootsie" immensely. But that was a long time ago and I am probably aging myself.
It was also predictable. But I always had such a crush on Jessica Lange and watched all of her movies

I also had a crush on Natalie Woods. *sniff* I was so heartbroken when she died.

6. You are freaking me out.
Tootsie was my first date. Tommy Z took me to see it after we had ice cream sundaes at Swenson's. Then a couple of years later when I went to college I was constantly told how much I looked like Natalie Wood. (Totally bogus, we look NOTHING alike!) But how weird that I got it from a ton of people that year.

8. Oddly I can't recall. But I do remember from all of an hour or so ago..
that they oiled his hair for the wedding scene which was just so not necessary.

3. The March 1993 storm?
I remember that...they canceled finals at my boarding school. I got out just in time, but hundreds of my classmates were stuck at the airports for 3 days. Yuck.

9. Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner.
I was stuck in our condo in Massachusetts while my fiance (now husband) was in New Orleans. I had two videos on hand. The electricity never went out, but the cable died early. I later discovered it was because his two demonic cats had knocked out a cord from the wall. Otherwise I'd have had cable television. As it was I had "Cutting Edge" and some horrible Dolly Parton movie and two library books and a magazine I finished very very quickly into the weekend.

Oddly touching to this dude. Sweet. As I recall, anyhow. I could be wrong. Help.

7. How odd. A couple of days ago I was at my folks' place.
On Sunday afternoon, I watched a Drew Barrymore flick "Never Been Kissed" with Michael Vartan which inspired me to watch the film referenced in my OP. BUT, after that movie, the station aired "The Wedding Singer" with her and Adam Sandler. I am such a sucker for that movie. And I normally don't like Adam Sandler. Product of the 80s????

10. Yeah...I like the Vartan too so I've seen that
Drew is the reporter who goes back to school, right? Cute, cute, cute. I really like her. I find her "winning" and likable in most everything I've seen. Perfect combo of carefree and vulnerable. That's the key to these movies: the right level of breeziness throughout so that the moving, "what love really means" point w/ 12 minutes left to go stands out in contrast.

11. I love Drew.
I love any actress with realistic body dimensions. I find her totally believable and likeable. If I can see her winning the guy and going out to lunch with me the day after to talk about it, the actress is totally there in my opinion.
