Jason Pogrant was found by his landlord and his employer about 2:40 p.m. Tuesday at his apartment in the 3000 block of Water Street. According to Stevens Point Police Capt. Jim Dowling, Pogrant had been last seen on Sunday.
Portage County Coroner Scott Rifleman said Pogrant’s official cause of death will be determined upon the return of toxicology reports, possibly in several weeks. Dowling says, however, that circumstantial evidence leads police to believe Pogrant died of a drug overdose, likely using prescription fentanyl and oxycodone. Parents, please, please, please warn you kids about the dangers of this kinds of stuff. Fentanyl is scary dangerous and is something not to be fucked around with. It's more dangerous than heroin and morphine.
True, this guy loved to pop pills when he partied, whether it was Vicodin, Adderall, or god knows what else. However, underneath all that, he was a fun guy to be around. He even convinced one of his friends to bring over a bottle of Jack Daniels to split with me the night I leaned that my grandfather died. I remember splitting it and drinking to my Grandpa's memory.
After I left this particular res hall due to all the drugs and craziness, I really didn't talk to him again.
Rest in Peace, friend.
