Lieberman has just said...
on CNN, that he is supporting John McCain for president.

There has never been a bigger reason to retake even more repuglicon seats in hte senate so we can show him the damn door.

4. He's been saying that for a while.
He knows who got him re-elected. After he lost the primary here and chose to run as an independent over the urging of the state and national Democratic party organizations, virtually all of his support among self-identified Democrats dried-up. Even key members of his campaign staff urged him to accept the primary result and just go our gracefully.

He got more votes from registered GOPers than the GOP candidate, Alan Schlesinger, did. I felt that consequences be damned the Democrats should not have let him remain in good standing in the Senate qua his seniority for committee seats, etc.

Also, there are rumors he's on McCain's short list for a running mate. He's got to do something, he's a lame-duck as far as his seat goes. He knows he can't get re-elected.

If Lieberman performs an opportunistic u-turn on reproductive choice, then he'd probably be accepted into the GOP with open arms.
