I just saw the movie "Sophie's Choice" |
|
And I have to say....
Her performance was better than the hype. They should have given her 3 oscars just for her work in this film. I was friends with a Polish woman for many, many years, and Meryl nailed that accent.
I wasn't that impressed with the movie overall, but I definitely understand what the fuss is about now.
I read in the production notes that Meryl only had 3 months to learn the accent and the languages. I also read that Goldie Hawn was after the part. Can you imagine?

1. I always thought it was a very sad story. |
|
I also thought she gave the women the edge she needed

3. Didn't care for the movie--perhaps because the book is increbible! |
|
Saw the movie a while back, and didn't care for it. Then I read the book not too long ago and loved it, so I decided to give the movie another chance. Still didn't like it. Still didn't like Meryl Streep--I mean, she wasn't awful like she usually is, but still hammy and over-rated.
Anyway, you should read the book.
