I'm from the most beautiful state in the Union, Arkansas. But I have traveled through Kansas and found it to be clean, neat, flat and the citizenry very friendly, courteous and helpful. Acres and acres of sunflowers are quite a beautiful sight. And did I mention Clean? And they do have one helluva basketball team. Should be a great game.

I'm no Civil War buff but I'm pretty sure NC didn't secede from the Union until all the surrounding states did.

So it's kind of like our recent lottery. If all your neighbors are doing it you really don't have much of a choice.

I'm also pretty sure that there were considerable numbers of Kansans sympathetic to the Confederacy.
