Why don't automakers put rear window wipers on all vehicles?

I had one on my previous car. Now I don't have one and I miss it a lot. They really help a lot when it's raining.

Maybe I'll order my next car and have one added on.

3. It all depends on available water surface tension, air stream force and decent angle

Just get a Dodge Magnum instead

I honestly don't know the answer, but it would be smart if they did do that AND if they would make the defogging process cover all of the windows instead of just the front and sometimes the back windows.

5. I remember back when few American-made cars had rear wipers.

My family owned a Volvo station wagon when I was a kid, and it had a rear wiper. One time we pulled into a gas station, and the attendant saw the rear wiper and called over to his co-worker: "Hey, Joe! This guy's got a Communist car!"

7. I have said that same thing before!

We have a little Ford Escort (wagon) with a wiper on the rear window, and I love that thing! We also have a Buick Century, and it doesn't have that little wiper and that lack of a rear wiper pisses me off EVERY time I drive it in the rain...

Never had one and never noticed a reason why I would need one. Have always been able to see what traffic is doing behind me just fine.
