I think LeftyKid got in some trouble at his Dad's house yesterday.
This morning while I'm making breakfast he says "Mom! Guess what I learned yesterday?"

"What?"

"NEVER tell a lady she's fat! ALWAYS say she looks pretty! Even if she doesn't!"

I guess he was a bit too honest with his Dad's girlfriend.

Not a fantastic lesson either.

4. I really wish his Dad had said something like "all women are beautiful in some way"

but he's very midwestern and conventional, so I'm not going to even bother explaining to the distinction.

LK and I will talk about it later, though. I think we'll try to think of things he likes about people that have nothing to do with their looks, and talk about why those things are really important.

Though I do think everybody tiptoeing around the issue of her weight is how the gf got to the point she has, and the lack of honesty is going to be complicit in her early death at this rate.

edit: typo

8. We're going to have to have a little talk about hurt feelings.
I'm sure he didn't mean anything harmful by it, he's just getting to the age where he's going to have to start thinking before he speaks.

6. He's still in that little kid too-honest-for-his-own-good phase.
He's very, very honest. I'm pretty pleased, because I was a lying little shit at his age.

7. Barely.
I felt bad for him. He didn't mean to hurt her feelings, I'm sure.

9. After building a garage with my dad...
He was pooped. He was the cut man and I nailed stuff up and gave measurements.

Daughter said to him, "You are lazy Grandpa. Dad did all the work. You just handed him stuff."

I had to leave the room :D
