Bush gals upstage a runway
So it seems that W's daughter Barbara thinks she model material? Such an ambitious girl in this time of war. You would think that with are lineage she would be either considering a stint in the military to show her support for her father's war or maybe continuing her studies and going on for an MBA at Harvard, just like her daddy did? No, this little bow-wow thinks she can use her power and position to become a runway model? Maybe she should lay off the booze unless she wants to crawl down the catwalk?

Palm Beach Post

Dozens of paparazzi staged a shock-and-awe campaign Thursday night at Zac Posen's show, where the front row was occupied by Fashion Week regulars such as Hollywooders Claire Danes and Stephen Dorff and hip-hop mama Janice Combs.

Sparking the flashbulb attack was first daughter Barbara Bush, who's considering a fashion career after graduating from Yale, and cousin Lauren Bush, part-time model and Posen muse.

How insane was the attention focused on the two young women? Add Sarah Jessica and Britney, then multiply by Madonna.

The pushing, the shoving, the yelling, the utter ridiculousness made for the most entertaining moments of the fall collections, but in the midst of the maelstrom, the Bushes chattered with each other like schoolgirls. All in a day's work...

<snip>

When Cortazar parties with his champagne-sipping model friends, Williams said, he still orders Sprite.

Which we probably can't say about young Barbara Bush.

1. I don't like Bush or the rest of the "Bushies"
but kids are kids and they have a right to their dreams. She can't help who her parents and grandparents are.

I am angry when repugs attack Chelsea and hated the fascination with the Kennedy offspring.

Let's not go there.

2. The boyfriend has outstanding warrants, too.
Seems he can't go to CA without being arrested: drunk driving, speeding, etc.

Also, Newsweek story (www.newsweek.com) on Kerry and Bush* says that Bush* invited the Yale prez to sleepover at the WH after Barbara was accepted to the school.

Interesting...

5. Oh please, while other kids her age are fighting in her daddy's wars
All she can do is slide through life, partying just like her daddy, living the life of a privileged brat, without even a thought of ever doing something for someone else? Sorry, she's an adult now and she's fair game. If she wants to take advantage of all the perks are privileged life hands to her, then she will also have to put up with the scrutiny.

6. That's why I posted this in the lounge
I spend too much of my time worrying about what her father is doing to this country and doing what ever I can to bring and end to his reign of terror, that once in a while I need to take a break and be a catty female.

7. Choice of modeling as a career post-Yale sounds like cousin-envy.
Thousands of qualified students could not even get a scholarship to Yale and Barbara squanders her tenure on a future that doesn't demand critical thinking. The only thing modeling offers this Bush daughter is something to do while waiting to get married (for the first time).

9. I think it's great
if they want to publicly do whatever they say and please.

It makes it hard for the self-righteous to point fingers at the rest of us.

10. Barbara is fair game now ...

She has made herself a public celebrity. She can no longer be considered "off limits" to press coverage and probes.
