When umbrellas are outlawed, only outlaws...
I love my neighborhood!

MANCHESTER – A man with a multi-colored umbrella robbed Cleary's Cleaners on Webster Street about 11:25 a.m. today.

Sgt. Maureen Tessier, community information officer, said at this time she does not know if the man, described as a 6-foot, light-colored black man, fled with any money or not.

The incident happened about 11:25 a.m. at the 102 Webster St. dry cleaners. The man had his hand in his pocket when he entered the store and announced, "This is a robbery!" according to Tessier.

He was last seen heading west on Webster Street towards Elm Street.

The robber is described as 35 to 50 years old, thin and as having several days growth of beard. He was wearing a tan hat, tan pants and tan jacket.

The also had a multi-colored umbrella with him but Tessier said she did not know if it was open when he was inside the dry cleaners.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 668-8711.
