You know you're a slave to your pet when... |

It's 10 degrees outside, but you open the window so that she can watch through the screen as the squirrels run around. (FYI, the windows in my apartments have steel blinds attached on the outside. Better to deal with than inside blinds, but not that great for squirrel watching ;-).
You?

you get back from the hike and pick each and every tick from her body. And she loves the attention.

You pick the yucky green pellets out of your bird's pellet mix and make certain to put in extra purple pellets which she loves.

Do you have birds also? I have Greys and the problem with that is when a bird wants something - they will just tell you!

7. Only wild birds outside. |

Would LOVE to have an African Grey, or any bird, really, but we have six cats.
I once knew a Grey named Lucy. Her owner walked around town with her on his shoulder. Brought her into the coffee house where I moonlighted; she'd order for him. LOL

Birds are loaded with personality. I like almost any type of pet though, they make life better.

you put the cat food can on the floor after dishing the food out, so one cat can lap up the "juice."

...you're in bed, and your cat hops up, stares at you, and you move over, because you're on her favorite part of the bed.

9. LOL. I do the same thing for my cat |
|
He's housebound so I figure he can use the fresh air every once in a while. Plus he likes to get a dose of the outdoor odors. I'll say, "Window?" and he runs into the living room, jumps up on the kitty condo near the window and waits for me to open it. The thermostat's in the living room so few minutes after I open the window I hear the furnace roar to life and the upstairs becomes a dry sauna. Kitty doesn't stay there long, of course, because it's so damn cold.

12. Yeah, mine doesn't stay there long when it's cold |

But it's cute to see her react to squirrels running across the street. Very worth it to entertain kitty for a bit..

10. When your cat will only eat |
|
fresh food, right out of the can, so you buy the tiniest cans you can, and feed your cat one spoonful at a time, cause if the food gets cat saliva on it, your cat will no longer eat it. Also, if your cat won't eat more than a mouthful or two at a time, and you put too much in the bowl, it will dry out a tiny bit and become inedible in your cat's opinion. Sometimes you will be able to convince her to eat the rest if you stir it up, but that only works if there is not too much saliva on it.
Dog's are a lot easier. They'll eat almost anything. But then, when you go out to eat, you always have to remember to bring a nice piece of chicken home for your dog. You feel guilty if you don't.

13. Here's another from me |
|
Wasn't going to admit this, except the story about spoon feeding made me brave: my cat likes to be "escorted" to her food (her bowl is filled with dry cat food all the time) and she likes me to sing to her while we're walking. :eyes: This doesn't mean she won't eat when I'm not home, but when I am she'll sit and whine till we take a walk to the food.

15. One of my cats won't eat until I give him a hug and kiss... |
|
he'll come in from outside, or come upstairs first thing in the morning and the food will be freshly dished out, but he just sits there, staring at me (he's on the island in the kitchen we installed for our own use but which has been turned into his own private eating platform) until I give him a hug and kiss. Then all's well, and he'll turn his attention to the food bowl. Won't eat until we've had our kissies. I'm damned if I know how he trained me to do that, but it's part of our regular routine now.
One of my other cats eats her normal breakfast, then sits in front of the refrigerator until I get out some cream cheese for her, which she insists I feed her while she sits on my lap (she gets a spoonful every morning, it is her most favorite treat in the world). If I don't hop to it fast enough, she'll start yelling at me -- short sharp RRRORRWWW! noises, almost like a bark, until she sees her cream cheese tub removed from the fridge...
I am a sucker, big time.
