Bette Davis - born 4/5/08
One hundred years ago.

Bette Davis on Joan Crawford:

"I wouldn't piss on her if she was on fire."

"She has slept with every male star at MGM except Lassie."

"Why am I so good at playing bitches? I think it's because I'm not a bitch. Maybe that's why Joan Crawford always plays ladies."

"You should never say bad things about the dead, you should only say good . . . Joan Crawford is dead. Good!"

Other dead people born 4/5: Spencer Tracey, Melvyn Douglas, Gregory Peck.

1. Wow...can't believe she would have been 100!
Considering the 20 pages of lyrics on the front page of the lounge, it's a damn shame that one of them wasn't "Bette Davis Eyes." (Could happen, though, at the rate their coming!)

People who complain about this primary season being nasty have no idea the history between the divas like Davis and Crawford.

I love them both, and always enjoy their movies.

2. Heheh
when they made "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane", Davis had a coke machine installed on the set just to piss off Crawford (who was a director of Pepsi).

In relatiation, Crawford filled her pockets with weights for the scenes where Davis had to drag her around.

3. LOL! I love that movie.
It's one of my favorites to this day. I've seen it a million times, and anytime I know it's coming on, I set aside a block of time to watch it.

MMjr watched it with me, and he thought it positively twisted. He usually doesn't get into old movies, but he loved this one.

Can you recommend any good biography that discusses the rivalry between both women?

5. Didn't know she was born in San Antonio....
I'll see if I can find it locally, or order it if I can't.

Thanks!
