How come I get the feeling that we're going to get some nasty revelations when the primaries end? |
|
Anyone else feeling that?

8. I have an uneasy feeling but I don't think I could specifically pinpoint it that closely |
|
I've been feeling this building for a couple years now just a really uncomfortable sense of, the best way I can think to describe it is, impending doom. It could be just that my personal life has been really messed up for a couple of years now and this is an entirely personal thing I'm feeling but I've also noticed that a lot more people seem to be falling into this swirling vortex of bleakness and I think it's spreading. To use another metaphor, that we've been building an economic house of cards that's right on the verge of collapsing.
Maybe I need to up my Prozac? I don't know. I did get a bit of validation that it's not just personal from one of my work trade journals last month with a long article about wage stagnation in my field and, as is my own personal experience, not just a matter of wages not keeping up with inflation but even without adjusting for inflation wages actually declining. In one way there's a sense of comfort in knowing that I'm not alone in this boat, that it wasn't something did wrong personally. But on the other hand, I don't get happiness knowing that others are suffering. But maybe people have always felt this way, maybe every generation as it ages goes through a time where we lose our idealism and our faith in our future and we come to the realization that perhaps life hasn't actually gotten harder, maybe we've just lost that youthful feeling of invincibility and we see see the world for what it has been all along.

I'm pretty sure that's common knowledge.

not sure why folks often expect them to be.
It kills me the way we analyze every tiny detail - no one can stand up to that kind of scrutiny. I think it's awful, actually.
