Ok, I need a new IPod...like, tomorrow
Kitteh has absconded with my old one, and it is nowhere to be found. Series. So, I'm going to get a new one tomorrow. I don't want to spend mucho cash, but I want a decent one b/c I have a whole lot of music in ITunes.

Help!! :bounce:

PS- I needed a new one anyway.

1. I'm thinking of having my Nano surgically implanted in my brain.
Best gadget ever, ever, ever.

What kind are you going to get?

7. I'm partial to the Nano.
I find the idea of a 2" video screen a little silly, so I have no need to store major megs of video, and my 8GB Nano holds HUGH amounts of music. The 4GB is $149, the 8GB is $199.

Plus, since they (Nanos) use flash memory, they're not as prone to skipping/cutting out if you jostle it (helpful if you wear it during workouts).

26. I second the nano
What is the difference, other than shape, between the original nano and the new ones?

28. The new nano plays video
And you get 8GB for $200 instead of 4GB. When I bought my nano (2nd generation) last year I thought 4GB was more than enough. Not.

4. It is under some very heavy piece of furniture, I know this...
It was on the coffee table, in its case, the next morning, case was on the floor, no IPod. I looked everywhere I could, and nothing. I'm sick of looking, and I wanted a new one anyway.

Suggestions?

5. Well, do you want it more for music, video, intertubes, and how much storage do you need?
I have an ipod video (I think they've since rebranded them the ipod classic,) which works fine for me. I'd be tempted by the ipod touch so I could have wifi, but iirc they haven't got much storage, and they're $$$.

Mine only holds 500 songs. I NEED at least a 2,000-songer (is that the technical term?). Not just want -- NEED. :D

I would get as much storage space as you can, because you will never complain about having too much space, BUT you WILL complain about having too little.

The 8gb nano and the 80gb iPod classic are $50 apart...If It were me i would spring for the Classic and the the exponential increase in storage space. The difference is the NANO is flash based and the Classic has a HDD inside that spins, so if you run a lot with it, the Classic *may* skip. Mine does not.

I thought I remember hearing that Apple is not giving a student discount on them anymore, so unless you buy used, you will pay full price.

If the cat is listening to music, it would be interesting to know which song it picked.

I own a 160gb Classic.

No, it does not have 40,000 songs on it. I rip my music at a higher bit rate so I lose less audio quality.

I probably have only 150 CDs on there.

edit: and I only use it in the car.

23. Ummm... I just bought a...
1 gig Philips mp3 player at Radio Shack for 30 bucks. For another 20 bucks or so I could have had an SD card slot.

Is mucho extra gigs in an Ipod really worth another 200 bucks or so?

If you don't get your iPod back after that, maybe bring him/her for a "drive in the country" after watching the Sopranos... I don't know what will work if that fails.

27. Rachel Maddow keeps freezing my Ipod
every time I download a new episode, my Ipod freezes and I have to wait until the battery drains and recharge it. Somehow I think that's not supposed to happen.
