1. I remember that first time Lelapin was gone overnight
she had a blast. I, on the other hand, was a wreck.

2. thanks.
This isn't the first time he's been gone for the night, but it's the first in a while. He has a great time with his cousins and loves being with older kids. I know he'll be fine, I just worry.

10. heh. Yeah, I've got a 14 yr old boy and that's about right!
seriously, he's a great kid. He's at the age now where his friends and peers are more important to him than us, his parents and family, and that's as it should be. This is when we get to see how (and if) we've created a good solid foundation of values for him, as he goes out into the world.

Believe me, I understand how you feel, ulysses. Parenthood is a constant journey of Letting Go, isn't it? It's bittersweet, but we have to trust ourselves that we're doing the best we can and giving them all the opportunities to shine and grow and thrive in life.

I'm sure you're doing just fine, my friend. Enjoy this precious time, when they're little. Trust me, it passes all too quickly...

My son is graduating from 8th grade in June and I KNOW I'm gonna be a total mess, emotionally. My little boy is growing up! Hard to believe he'll start high school in the fall. Sigh...

7. Not too long ago, Carter spent the night with my nephew
When we were leaving, he simply couldn't be bothered to kiss mommy and daddy goodbye and I think he was pretty perturbed when we picked him up the next day that we were taking him away from what was a pretty good time.

I am thrilled to know that I'm soooooo needed. :)

9. :) he nearly throttled me when they got here,
but by the time they left, his attitude was more, "Ok, Dad, enough with the car seat. Let's go!"

15. I'm sure he'll have a great time.
Who am I to talk though, my boys haven't been away for the night except to sleep out in the tent with my husband in the yard.

Your little guy is adorable.
