Should Memphis have fouled |
|
to protect the three point lead in regulation?
I am a believer in fouling in this situation, especially with the 19+ foot three-point-line in college.

they should have run out the clock when 16 seconds remained, they had possession and that idiot went in for a layup (that he didn't even make) and got fouled.
pass the ball out, run around a bit...
national championship memphis.
but they didn't. so sad...
national championship kansas.

that was a pretty idiotic drive to the basket. Maybe if you have a clear path, but he didn't.

in the end Chalmers had to hit a tough shot. That was good "D", they did everything right and he still hit it. Surest way to prevent that scenario from happening is to foul. I'd have let Kansas get passed halfcourt and then fouled. Take off some time and protects the lead. But still, it was Kansas's night. Maybe nothing would have stopped them at that point. Memphis would have still had to hit some free throws and they weren't going in.
