It's a delightfully maddening maze in which it's so easy to get lost because no piazza looks the same from one hour to the next -- stores open and close and restaurant tables are spread out or taken it. I could wander through that precious gem of a city for days and never tire of it.

32. Not sure if 'coolest' is the word most apt to describe this place, still
in my life, the most recurrent and consistently enjoyable holiday destination has been Bendigo, a small city north of Melbourne in rural Victoria. The outskirts are more country, the inner guts giving off a stronger city sensibility to proceedings.

I find myself in one of those moments when I could say so much yet end up with very little.

My girlfriend lives in Strasbourg, and I've been here off-and-on for probably 4 or 5 months out of the past year (it's where I am now), but I really love it as a city. Gorgeous old buildings and great canals with walking paths beside them. Just really nice lazy day walks with the dog are the best. Great beer too, which I wouldn't have associated with France before coming here.

41. For my terminal leave from the Army, I flew over to London, and then visited
by train, car and boat Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and France. Did a walking and subway tour of London with a very pretty Israeli-American girl I'd met at a pub the night before. Caught a rock festival in Thurles, Co. Tipperary, Ireland. Saw Jim Morrison's grave in Pere Lachaise Cemetery in Paris. Saw the grave of Gelert the dog in Beddgelert, Wales. Visited Loch Ness, Scotland. Got raging drunk with a genial Irishman on the ferry from Belfast to Ayr, Scotland (He would NOT stop buying me drinks! I had to be polite... B-) ) Had an unpleasant run-in with another not-so-genial drunken Irishman who mistook me for a British soldier and started screaming and cursing me. A nice working-class mother from Preston and her daughter "rescued" me from the Irish guy, and took me home to their place so I could have a place to sleep before moving on to Liverpool. Had the time of my life.

Best vacation EVER! B-)

we went last year for my birthday. Amazing. Also, the French Riviera is a favorite- Monaco, Antibes, Nice, St. Tropez, and Cannes all are beautiful.

When I was younger, I used to enjoy going to Ibiza. We are thiking about another trip for my 30th birthday in 2010 :D

Edit: I used to live in Germany when I was very young and remember the festivals around Oktoberfest. I wouldn't mind making the trip again one day.

56. Glacier National Park in Montana. Seven days in the backcountry
with my two closest friends for my "bachelor party". It was the summer of 2000 and the fires around the park were getting bad. Many people cancelled their planned trips into the backcountry and the park in general. The people hiking on the backcountry pass one day ahead of us had turned around after a day out of fear of fires. We passed them on their way out on our first day in and they gave us a bottle of really good bourbon they no longer had a need for. We learned when we got done the rangers cancelled the passes of the people behind us the next day so for seven days we were the only three people in Glacier's backcountry. We backpacked 76 miles criss-crossing the park and didn't see another human the whole time. A grizzly walked through our camp on the third evening stopping about a hundred yards away from us to give a little sniff our way then it continued on. Awesome.
