Embarrassing admissions
Edited on Tue Apr-08-08 08:10 PM by SallyMander

"The Biggest Loser" makes me cry. So does "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition."

However i think this overactive empathy gene may be the reason i'm a democrat. :D

43. It only makes me cry because I know that the homeowners will probably
be homeless very soon. The homes are SO huge and expensive to maintain that most recipients lose them within two years (My cousin works for Disney and her office was next door to EM:HE).

Perhaps for that reason? They also came up with some way to (legally) juggle paperwork so that the families aren't hit with a huge tax bill.

I guess I have some sort of a hang-up for 22.5 to 25.5 year olds named Sara, Lara, Cara, Kara or Mara. That's both strange and embarrassing.

54. Elmo is a real cute guy!
I ran into a situation a while back when somebody dumped this girl on my road.

My dogs kept attacking her & the only option I had was to take her to a neighboring counties shelter. (My county does not wait too long before they put them down) I was able to find her a home on a farm up in Kentucky within a couple of days. When I went to claim her she was caged with a beautiful female pit that had obviously just had pups. I walked away crying a bit because I could only save this one dog & her cell mate was most likely going to die. She seemed like a wonderful dog that was extremely friendly.

I wish more people would adopt from shelters rather than buying a dog from a breeder. You can't buy a good dog like Elmo, dogs like that can ONLY be found at the pound. I bet he is the loyalist most loving dog because he knows what you did for him.

As for other confessions... Well...

I'm addicted to "24", so much so that when it's on and new, I watch it religiously. Same with my parents.

I have very developed opinions on every Star Trek series and movie ever made, Star Wars, Firefly, and Battlestar Galactica. I believe this qualifies me as a Class A Dork.

I saw the movie "Moulin Rouge" in theatres six times. Six.

30. I was the worst Little Leaguer in all of recorded history.
I absolutely sucked at baseball. One game, I was at bat with a 3-2 count. The pitcher lobbed an easy ball, which would have put me on base, and I SWUNG AT IT! AND MISSED!!! I think that was the day my father gave up on his hope that I would ever be a gifted athlete. He had my brother, who was a state champion swimmer, to be proud of.

I don't think he was truly proud of me until I joined the Army...

And amazingly I got appointed the First Aid administrator for the store I worked at (in my first job). It's easy taking the first aid test, you don't get to see any blood or stuff like that but put on an episode of Casualty (BBC's version of ER) and there's a crunch scene with a bloodied person and I'm behind the couch.

45. when I was a kid I thought you could make stars by shining a flash light into the sky
I evidently was really confused by my sister's attempted explanation on how far away stars were. For years I thought that if you flashed a light into the night sky in millions of years it would turn into a star. But I was only little. And she probably did a really bad job explaining it. And I'm sticking to that story.

When I was a kid, I was very confused about football players. In order to become a football player, one apparently needed to have ginormous shoulders, and I wondered where these large-shouldered men came from since I had never seen one in person. Duh.

48. My biggest latest embarrassing admission...
I left dogs behind. Totally flies in the face of what I believe. (BTW, "The Biggest Loser" is supposed to do that. Just sayin'.)

ANYway, stole her:

For what it's worth (doing pretty well since then):

Didn't take her

or her

or her

To get the one out, I failed the others. Absolute failure on my part, and I'm embarrassed by it.

My redemption...Pat, you dogfighting douchebag, you'll...well, no sense spelling it out here.

59. I once believed Publisher's Clearinghouse when they said, "You have won $5 million!!"
I think I was like 10 or 11 at the time and saw the mail and neglected to read the fine print where it says, "If you return the entry form and your numbers are drawn, you could be the person that has Ed McMahon come to you house and say..."

But, my younger brother and I were jumping up & down in excitement before my mom got home.

And TV shows.

... and some cartoons.

Come on, you watch the episode of Batman Beyond when Mr. Freeze dies and try not to shed a tear or two.

Seriously though, there are some things I can't watch with other people in the room 'cause I know I'll get all sniffly. :P

*edit* Oh, and I have some potentially embarrassing mp3s on my mp3 player... that I will often sing along with.

In no particular order -
The soundtrack to Moulin Rouge
The soundtrack to the musical episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer
T.A.T.U.
I had to take the soundtrack to Rocky Horror Picture Show off because I KNOW I can't help but sing along with that one.
Hedwig and the Angry Inch soundtrack.
A large selection of music from various Final Fantasy games.
And the list goes on.

I cried like a baby at the end of the Peter Jackson's remake of King Kong. Wept uncontrollably for about thirty minutes.

I like listening to The Partridge Family on my play list at work (which I have surreptitiously named, "Heavy Metal" to throw snoops off of the real game...

Also, I log onto, lurk, post and rebut on DU when I should be doing some actual work for my company.
