Anyone watching the NOVA show on Mayan languages
and glyphs?

Completely fascinating interdisciplinary detective work deciphering symbols and history contained therein.

4. You'd love it I bet.....
Told as a history, i.e. the breakthroughs in understanding across the last century, the assumptions that are shattered at each turn as the sheer complexity emerges. This in turn reveals history and culture as ever more complex. Linguists, archaeologists, architects, historians all collaborating. Way cool.

9. I liked the way they ended the show with modern Mayans
learning their language and their history.

The whole thing made me almost wish I had continued with my language and anthropology studies...

10. I saw it, and learned a lot-- it was fascinating the way...
they went through the history of the research. Making sense of that much in an hour show is not easy.
