Myrtle Beach Vacation - and a potty training adventure
Edited on Tue Apr-08-08 11:27 PM by ChoralScholar
Okay - this is a self-whoring post, but oh well... I wanted to post a couple, because we haven't been on vacation in so long.

My son celebrated his 4th birthday while we were gone...

Playing with Choralscholar Jr. on the beach

On the bow of the USS North Carolina in Wilmington, NC - me, kiddo, and elfrangel

Some heavy machinery to play in the sand

Opening Optimus Prime

Collecting shells on the beach with elfrangel

Birthday cake

Here's the best part -

Up until we went on vacation, kiddo was physically ready for potty training, but just didn't want to do it. He showed signs of being scared of the toilet (a loud one scared him at some point).

We did three things:
1.)We told him they didn't allow diapers in Myrtle Beach, and he would have to wear big boy underwear and use the potty.
2.)We let him pick out his own underwear (a package of Spongebob, and a package of Transformers)
3.)We also told him there would be a Transformers bathroom at the condo, and that Optimus Prime would
keep him safe while he went potty.... (I know it's ridiculous, but you do what you gotta do!)

So, when we first got to the condo, I slipped into the bathroom and applied some decorations.....

So, result is this, we left for vacation with a 3 year old who still wore diapers, but returned from vacation with a fully well adjusted and potty trained 4 year old.

2. Awesome!
Myrtle Beach is a common haunt for me, and the battleship was a lot of fun to see one year. And your son is adorable. :D :hi:

3. Dude, he got Optimus Prime!!!
That's the best. I think I was a little older than that when those toys came out (I know it was some time in the early 80s), but I clearly remember wanting everything transformers. I remember having a transformers birthday cake one year. A battle scene was constructed on it with icing.

4. ROFL!!!! that has to be the smartest potty training story I've ever read

Seriously though, the transformers decorations was a wonderful idea. It looks and sounds like y'all had a great time! Congrats to Choralscholar Jr. for being such a big boy. :)
